A Serial Entrepreneur with the desire to help others...
I’m James. I am married and have four young children. For as long as I can remember I have been trying to find solutions to problems, rooted I guess in my families’ values over the years. I have a burning desire in me to build businesses, and to help people out.
I like posh chocolate, red wine, spicy foods, making money, listening to music (blues mainly) and watching my children become better people than me 🙂Â

My Story
How did I become The Digital Marketing Guru?
Childhood
I was that kid who sold chocolate at primary school. My father and both my grandfathers ran successful businesses all their lives. Although never pushed into it, I guess after all I saw when I was child, it was inevitable that I would end up on a similar path..
Teenage years
As I got older I managed to dip my toe into all sorts of other markets, such as clothing, wine, even ice cream. I was definitely a Wheeler Dealer, with my friends certainly winding me up for the reputation that proceeded me. In truth I just wanted to make money. Although not always legitimate, I learned a great deal about people, the art of selling, how to innovate successfully and an all important work ethic.
Early 20's
Fast forward to my early twenties, and surprisingly to a little more maturity, I was able to smooth the rough edges by learning what to read and who to admire. Leaders, businessmen and women, I was fascinated with how the greatest achieved their goals. By this time I was able to confidently set up a business and to make it profitable.Â
To add to this, I taught myself SEO at 22. If I could get to the top of Google for anything then surely this would help me be successful at almost any business, right?Â
Whilst learning about SEO, I had a few enquires from start up companies, to help them market their products. This, by default turned me into a digital marketer, and it boded well as my expertise then merged with my desire to help others.
Growing up (apparently)
As luck would have it, it wasn't creating businesses that met my internal desires, but it was helping others succeed in theirs. This is where I met my passion and what I feel like (cringe I know) my calling in life. I was able to use my entrepreneurial instinct and experiences, to help those who were experts in their own fields, create a business.
As I grew older and wiser I became aware that although I have a belief and capability to make a business work, my credentials didn’t necessarily reflect my expertise, so at 27 I decided to enrol at University as a full time student, to study Economics and Marketing. My proudest achievement is that I can boast a first class honours degree, that was achieved whilst working full time and also being a father to 2 young children. Blood, sweat and definitely tears provided me with a certificate that nobody can take away!

So what’s the Digital Marketing Guru all about?
I want to use my expertise to give companies the ability to make the most out of what they offer. What’s my edge? Certainly not my credentials. It is the years of trying, failing, meeting people, having the right role models, and trying to be different. Helping businesses succeed is something I have practised for a long time and enjoy.
I realised that my passion lies in helping other businesses become successful. I thrive off using my experiences to assist others, and I can earn a living doing this.Â
I am also gifted with ADHD, which allows me to think creatively. To stick with just one constant business certainly does not fit my frame of mind, and so I need to spin multiple plates to feed the dopamine deficiency!
What Qualifications do you have for the job?
I have a first class honours degree in Marketing and Economics. Whilst I can use this accolade for both analysing data and coming up with ideas/designing, I pride myself on my experience and other self taught knowledge that allows me to perform the best I possibly can. I am also an accredited Google Partner, I’m a Shopify Partner and a HubSpot Partner. I have gained very sound knowledge of many platforms in my experience as a digital marketer to give you piece of mind I actually know what I am doing!
What can I do for your business?
Who knows? I can certainly bring a wealth of entreprise and experience to the table. I can think of ideas, I can research your market to within an inch of its life. I can work with you, I can be on hand most times of the day. I can certainly help you make money. Although I advertise as a Digital Marketing Guru, I suppose I am more like a business consultant who can market and sell – I have been known to jump on sales too for all sorts of businesses, make what you will from that!
